British recovered paper market calm in August

24.08.2011 −

Recovered paper merchants in the UK are currently having a quiet summer. Sources told EUWID that the market was balanced in August. Paper mills in the UK have relatively well-stocked warehouses this August, but prices are staying pretty high nonetheless. Buyers were always worried about sourcing enough recovered fibre for their mills over the summer months when arisings are traditionally low, market players said by way of explanation.

Sources told EUWID that old corrugated containers (OCC) stocks were quite satisfactory, but newspapers and magazines were a little scarcer. By and large, recovered paper merchants reported a quiet month in which supply and demand were typically balanced.
