Further increase in recovered paper prices in the UK

21.02.2012 −

Mirroring trends in Continental Europe, British recovered paper prices edged higher again in February. Major Chinese paper mills’ buyers have apparently purchased particularly large amounts of mixed paper and board in the past few weeks, pushing prices higher as a result, according to the latest EUWID market report
Old corrugated containers were also highly sought-after both within the UK and on export markets. Merchants reported that arisings of this grade had been lower than usual in February due to the bad weather. Consequently, they expected that minor shortages might surface in March.
Companies in the Far East placed the bulk of orders for British recovered paper again; British recovered fibre is too costly for buyers in mainland Europe at present.
