Recovered paper prices continue the downward trend in Germany

09.11.2011 −

As anticipated at the end of October, domestic recovered paper prices as well as export prices to Far East continue to decline in Germany in November. However, price pressure differed a great deal from region to region. While demand in eastern Germany is still good, prices have experienced a sharp fall especially in the north of the country where shipments to Asia were often at a standstill at the beginning of the month, market participants report.

Owing to continuing unsatisfactory operating rates, recovered paper consuming paper mills will continue to switch off machines in November for days or weeks and will require less input material, while collection volumes are usually good in November.
