Romania gains extension to WSR derogation

European Union member state representatives have approved rules that will give Romania expanded powers to object to imports of certain types of waste destined for recovery until the end of 2015. These special rules will thus apply for the same period as a transitional arrangement laid down in the EC Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR) 1013/2006. This means that all shipments of green-listed wastes (Annex III to the WSR) destined for recovery in Romania are subject to the procedure of prior written notification and consent.
