New contract for Novergie in Paris

The French waste to energy specialist Novergie has been awarded the contract to operate the household waste incineration plant in Ivry in the south of Paris by the municipal waste treatment organisation for the Greater Paris region (Syctom), Novergie's ultimate parent company Suez Environnement announced on Wednesday. The contract, which will take effect on 1 February 2011, represents around €210m in turnover over six years, including a three-year extention option.  The incinerator can reportedly treat up to 670,000 tonnes of waste a year and is currently operated by Tiru, a joint venture held by the electricity group EdF and the environmental services groups Suez Environnement and Veolia Environnement.
