The director general's post at the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) is open. The Brussels-based world recycling industry association confirmed to EUWID that Alexandre Delacoux had left the organisation at his own request effective 1 July. Pending the appointment of a successor, the BIR secretariat is being run by its directors Ross Bartley, Elisabeth Christ and Anja Wimmer.
Mr Delacoux took over the position in September 2013 upon the departure of Francis Veys, who had served as director general for over three decades. Before joining BIR in October 2012 as general manager, Mr Delacoux was executive director of the trade association European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises and secretary general of Micropower Europe. He previously worked for DuPont de Nemours for nearly ten years.
