The German financial investor Aurelius Invest AG has taken over plastics recycler Regain Polymers for an undisclosed sum from Chamonix Private Equity LLP. Regain Polymers describes itself as one of the UK’s leading plastics recycler. Last year, the company, which has around 100 employees, reported turnover of £31m (€44m).

Regain Polymers’ site at Allerton Bywater has a production capacity of up to 46,000 tonnes of specified compounds a year and also comprises two wash plants and a material preparation facility with a capacity of 28,000 tonnes a year. The company recycles both post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste consisting of HDPE, polypropylene and polystyrene.

This is the third investment of Aurelius in the plastics recycling sector in recent years. The company took over the PET recycling specialist Eco Plastics based in Hemswell in the northwest of England in December 2014. From 2007 to 2011, the PET recycler and PE fibre producer Wellman International headquartered in Mullagh, Ireland was included in the financial investor’s portfolio.
