British waste management company Biffa has announced the location of the first of several sorting centres it will set up to process bottles and cans collected under Scotland's new deposit return scheme (DRS). The waste management company announced that it would be investing £7.7m (ca. €8.7m) in a facility to be located in the former engineering depot on the Badentoy Industrial Estate in Aberdeen. The sorting centre will be part of a network of facilities Biffa will use to fulfil the ten-year contract for collection, counting and sorting services that it was awarded by the Scottish DRS scheme administrator, Circularity Scotland.
