The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) and the European Recycling Industries' Confederation (EuRIC) welcome many of the proposal included in the European Steel and Metals Action Plan which was published by the EU Commission last week. However, they strongly oppose the potential introduction of additional export restrictions for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals from the EU. However, EuRIC and BIR express serious concerns about certain trade-related proposals. "Such measures risk creating new trade barriers that would harm the functioning of global recycling markets and especially European metal recyclers", the industry associations warn....
