BIR: New members join executive committee

The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has appointed a female president for the first time in its 75-year history. At the international recycling federation’s annual general meeting, held in Amsterdam at the end of May, Susie Burrage from the British Metals Recycling Association (BMRA) was elected successor to outgoing President Tony Bird.

Ms Burrage said she would continue to strengthen the industry’s advocacy efforts and work on expanding BIR’s geographical footprint. "My vision is to 'increase the volume' on the environmental impact we make and showcase BIR and recycling as the sustainability-forward, innovation-rich and economically vital industry that it is,” the incoming president said in her inaugural speech....
