Palm Beach County's Solid Waste Authority has awarded the contract for a waste to energy (wte) plant to The Babock & Wilcox Company and its consortium partner BE&K Construction Company. The value of the contract, which covers engineering, design, procurement and construction of the plant, is more than USD668m, Babcock &Wilcox announced on Monday. The company was also awarded a contract to provide operation and maintenance services for the 95 MW wte facility, which will treat up to 3,000 tonnes of municipal waste a day in three lines. The value of the first ten-year phase of this contract stands at around USD235m, according to Babcock & Wilcox.
