Europe’s waste-to-energy (wte) plants continue to have high levels of capacity utilisation even though waste volumes remain relatively low due to the continent’s weak economic activity. Nearly half of the companies surveyed for the "Industry Barometer Waste-to-Energy 2025" reported high capacity utilisation, while 45 per cent described theirs as sufficient.
The industry survey was conducted by the German consulting firm Ecoprog on behalf of the Confederation of Waste-to-Energy Plants (Cewep), the umbrella association representing operators of incineration plants for non-hazardous waste in Europe.
