French enzymatic recycling technology developer Carbios has delayed the start-up of its planned PET biorecycling plant in China, citing additional technical work required to adapt its process to local conditions. To be located in Haining, Zhejiang province, the project is being developed as part of a joint venture with Wankai New Materials.
The facility in is now expected to enter commissioning in the first half of 2028, Carbios announced last week. The plant is to process 50,000 tonnes of PET waste per year. Carbios describes the project as a key milestone in the industrialisation and deployment of its enzymatic depolymerisation technology in Asia....
