Chemical recycling: Total set to buy pyrolysis oil from New Hope Energy

Pyrolysis plant to process 310,000 tonnes of waste plastic per year

The multinational oil company Total Energies intends to start buying pyrolysis oil made out of waste plastic from New Hope Energy in the US, the two companies announced after signing an agreement laying out the terms of the cooperation. New Hope will build a chemical recycling plant in Texas, which will sell some of this output to Total Energies. The group wants to process the recycled feedstock into polymers with the same properties as new polymers.

New Hope Energy is expected to commission the facility, which will use a patented pyrolysis technology developed in partnership with Lummus Technology, in 2025....
