Belgian waste management company Indaver reports that construction has begun on the waste to energy (wte) plant it will operate near the former Rivenhall airfield in the East of England. When completed, the £600m (ca. €690m) facility located in the county of Essex is to have a processing capacity of up to 595,000 tonnes of commercial and household waste per year.
While ground preparation began last year and civil engineering works got underway in April, main contractor Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) began its work on the facility itself in mid-October, said Indaver. The Rivenhall wte plant is slated to be operational by the start of 2026....
