Ecobat adding Li-ion battery recycling plant in Arizona

The Texan battery producer Ecobat intends to build a recycling plant for lithium-ion batteries from electric vehicles in the US state of Arizona. The facility will be the company’s third for this type of battery and its first in North America, Ecobat announced in the second half of February. The plant will be designed to have an initial annual production of around 10,000 tonnes of recycled material. Commissioning is expected to happen in the third quarter of this year.

"This facility, like our lithium-ion battery recycling facilities in Germany and the United Kingdom, represents a significant milestone in Ecobat’s strategy to grow our lithium-ion battery recycling business to a scale, similar to our world-leading lead battery recycling business,” noted Ecobat’s CEO, Marcus Randolph.
