The German waste-to-energy plant operator EEW incinerated more waste for the fourth year in a row in 2021. Throughput at the 18 plants operated by EEW in Germany and neighbouring countries increased by 2 per cent to 4.907 million tonnes last year, according to the latest annual report published in late March by its Chinese parent company, Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited (BEHL).
The parent group painted a mixed picture when it came to energy sales: while heat and process steam sales rose by 6 per cent to 943 GWh and 2.2 TWh, respectively, the amount of electricity fed into the power grid declined by 2 per cent to 1.8 TWh.
