The waste to energy (wte) plant operator EEW plans to extract certain types of plastic from the mixed municipal and commercial waste streams it treats at its energy from waste plant in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. Thomas Obermeier, head of business development at EEW, said that the company was planning to install a pre-sorting unit with an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes. The recovered material is to be sent for either mechanical or chemical recycling. EEW currently incinerates up to 576,000 tonnes of waste a year in the Delfzijl facility....
