For the first time in five years, EEW Energy from Waste GmbH incinerated less waste than in the previous year in 2022. The combined throughput at the 17 waste to energy (wte) plants which EEW operates in Germany and neighbouring countries decreased by 300,000 tonnes year-over-year to land at 4.61 million tonnes, according to the annual report published by EEW's Chinese parent company Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited (BEHL) in late March. Energy sales had also fallen slightly. BEHL put its sales of electricity, heat and process steam at 4.91 billion kWh in 2022, down from 4.95 billion kWh one year earlier....
