The Swiss group Enespa has forged a strategic partnership on chemical recycling for plastic waste with the start-up Plasteco. The central element of the cooperation is an agreement under which Enespa Technologies is to acquire a 40 per cent stake in the Finnish firm. Through the partnership, the companies aimed to refine and implement the latest recycling technology to efficiently process plastic waste, Enespa announced.
Enespa Technologies, a subsidiary of Enespa AG, will provide two representatives to join Plasteco’s board of directors, Joachim Vogt and Ben Richters. Plasteco is raising its capital stock within this partnership.
First plant is a milestone
The partnership is beginning with the delivery of the first pyrolysis plant for chemical recycling, which is being transported to Lahti, Finland, in February. This plastic-to-oil plant reportedly has a daily capacity of five tonnes and is slated to go online in April once installation and test operations have been successfully completed. In the long term, the plan was to continue expanding the facility's capacity by delivering additional plants each year.
