The European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (Euric) is advising caution when interpreting statistics on used textile exports from the EU. The umbrella organisation commented on a recent briefing and report of the European Environment Agency (EEA) detailing trends in used textile exports. Euric welcomed the fact that the spotlight was being cast on exports. However, the Confederation criticised the absence of a distinction between textile waste and second-hand textiles in EU product classifications used for export declarations and statistical declarations for trade. This significant shortcoming could lead to vague or inaccurate statistics on exports of "used clothing”, FEAD said....
