Europe’s recycling rate for paper and cartonboard has declined. 75.1 per cent of the paper and cartonboard consumed in Europe last year was recycled, according to the monitoring report for 2024 published by the European Paper Recycling Council (EPRC) in July. By comparison, the recycling rate had stood at 79.3 per cent in 2023.
Furthermore, the number of countries with recycling rates below 60 per cent rose from four to six, while the number of countries whose rates surpassed 70 per cent decreased from 19 to 18, the EPRC reported. ...
