FEAD calls for consistency between targets in EU Packaging Regulation

The European Waste Management Association (FEAD) welcomed the Commission's proposal for a Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Organisation president Peter Kurth said that it "shows a strong willingness to close the loop in the packaging sector". He described the proposal as "a strong and welcomed signal that echoes the voice of the waste management industry, which called for ambitious measures and targets for recycling".

The measures proposed by Brussels, such as the establishment of minimum recycled content requirements, are intended to create "the very much needed shock on demand for recyclates" that would drive investment in separate collection, sorting and highly innovative recycling, according to FEAD....
