France cracks down on circumvention of EPS ban

In addition to the ban on certain single-use products consisting of expanded polystyrene (EPS) already laid down in national law, France wants to ban similar single-use products made partly or entirely of extruded PS or made of expanded or extruded polypropylene (PP). This affects packaging for food to be consumed on-site or on-the-go . The French Ministry of the Environment presented a draft of the decree to the EU Commission on 18 March. The standstill period ends on 20 June 2022.
