GCR opens one of Europe’s largest polyolefin recycling plants

After six years of planning and development, Spanish plastics recycler GCR Sustainable Plastic Solutions has started operations at its new polyolefins recycling facility in Castellet i la Gornal, near Barcelona, Spain. With an annual capacity of more than 130,000 tonnes, the new plant is one of the largest in Europe. According to a previous announcement, GCR was planning to invest around €100m in the project.

The new facility provides recycled feedstock for GCR’s Ciclic and Granic product portfolios. The Ciclic line includes high-quality recycled plastics such as HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE and PP, which can lower the CO₂ emissions of plastic applications by up to 90 per cent, according to GCR....
