German antitrust authorities have raised no objections to the takeover of the Riwald Group by the steelmaker Arcelor-Mittal. The German Federal Cartel Office gave Arcelor the go-ahead to acquire the share and controlling interest in the Dutch scrap recycler, whose business units include a German subsidiary.
After reports of the transaction appeared in Dutch media, Arcelor-Mittal announced on 6 December that it would take over the family business with its sites in Almelo and Beverwijk. The steelmaking group said that with the deal, it was acquiring "a state-of-the-art ferrous scrap metal recycling business" which had processed over 330,000 tonnes in 2021....
