Germany is once again exporting more ferrous scrap. After exports hit a record low in 2024, the Federal Statistical Office now reports rising shipments for the first half of 2025. At the same time, imports of scrap have declined. Overall, Germany remains a net exporter of ferrous scrap.

Despite higher volumes, the total export value fell from €1.93bn to €1.83bn, reflecting the decline in scrap prices that has been reported in EUWID's monthly coverage of the ferrous scrap market in Germany.
