Glencore and Britishvolt found joint venture

Swiss commodities trading firm Glencore and UK battery producer Britishvolt are forming a joint venture for battery recycling. The new venture will establish a “world-leading eco-system for battery recycling in the UK,” the companies announced in February.

A new recycling plant capable of processing at least 10,000 tonnes of lithium-ion batteries a year will be built at the site of Glencore subsidiary Britannia Refined Metals (BRM), in Nortfleet near London. The facility will process all of Britishvolt’s battery manufacturing waste from their “Gigafactory” in Blyth as well as portable electronics batteries and full electric vehicle (EV) packs, according to Glencore....
