Go-ahead given for Scottish plastics-to-hydrogen project

Planning permission has been granted for a waste plastic to hydrogen project being developed in Scotland by property management group Peel and Powerhouse Energy, which will provide the gasification technology. The plant, to be located at Rothesay Dock on the north bank of the River Clyde in West Dunbartonshire, is the second of several facilities the two companies plan to build together. The first is to be built at Peel's Protos industrial park in Cheshire near Ellesmere Port. This faciltiy is due to begin construction this year, the property group said in its announcement.

According to Peel NRE, the renewable natural resources arm of Peel L&P, the 13,500 tonnes per year facility is to produce hydrogen for use as transport fuel, and there are plans for a linked hydrogen refuelling station on the site. Peel estimated that construction of the Rothesay Dock plant would take around 15 months to complete. The project was first announced last year....
