A coalition of European recycling associations and companies has called on the European Commission to preserve the current definition of post-consumer plastic waste (PCPW) in the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). In a joint letter dated 28 October, the signatories warn against proposed changes to the definition, addressing their appeal to Executive Vice-Presidents Teresa Ribera Rodríguez and Stéphane Séjourné, as well as to Environment Commissioner Jessika Roswall.
The letter calls for the continued use of the current SUPD definition in Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/2683, under which only plastic waste from products placed on the EU market may be used for the production of qualifying recyclates. ...
