Íñigo Sanz Pérez new CEO of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente

The Spanish citizen services concern FCC has named a new CEO for its waste management subsidiary, FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente Holding. Íñigo Sanz Pérez, the CEO of the US subsidiary FCC Environmental Services, has been appointed to lead the group's environmental services arm.

Mr Sanz has more than three decades of experience in waste management and has spent the last 29 years with FCC, according to the statement announcing his appointment. He has served as the CEO of the Americas division of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente since 2013, leading "the remarkable growth of the business in the United States" in the intervening years, said the parent group. Mr Sanz studied chemical sciences and earned a master’s in environmental law from the University of the Basque Country as well as a MBA from the university's Institute of Applied Economics in Business.

"As the top executive of FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente Holding, Íñigo’s mission will be to coordinate the consolidation and growth of the four current geographical business platforms: Iberia, Central and Eastern Europe, the United Kingdom and the Americas," said FCC.

Mr Sanz has been succeeded as CEO for FCC Environmental Services, USA, by Dan Brazil. Mr Brazil joined the company in February 2019 as chief operating officer and brings over 15 years of industry experience to the position, FCC said at the start of May.

FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente houses the FCC group's waste treatment, recycling, municipal services, facility management and industrial waste management operations. The division reportedly operates in more than 5,000 municipalities worldwide and employs a staff of over 60,000 workers. Last year, the Canadian Pension Plan (CPP) Investment Board acquired a 24.99 per cent stake in the environmental services subsidiary in a transaction valued at €965m.
