The Italian waste management company Iren Ambiente plans to build a circular methanol and hydrogen plant in cooperation with the oil company Eni and the engineering group Maire. The facility is to be installed at Eni’s refinery in Sannazzaro de' Burgondi (Pavia) in Northern Italy and could leverage the site's existing infrastructure, Maire announced on Tuesday. The permitting process is now underway. The planned cost of the project has not been disclosed.
According to Maire, the plant would be based on waste-to-energy gasification technology from its subsidiary Nextchem. Nextchem is also responsible for the project engineering....
