Kanadevia Inova (KVI) has been given the go-ahead to begin construction of a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at the Protos waste-to-energy (wte) plant in the UK. The project developer, wte plant operator Encyclis, has issued notice to proceed, the Swiss engineering company announced this week.
Located near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, the project has received full planning and environmental approval and would be the first full-scale carbon capture plant built at a British wte facility, said KVI. Construction is due to begin shortly, with operations expected to start by mid-2029....
