Kay Oppat has assumed the role of managing director of Scholz Holding GmbH, effective immediately, the German metals recycling group announced on 26 January. He takes over the duties of the chief operating officer (COO), replacing Raphael Barth, who left Scholz in September of last year. Mr Oppat is responsible for production, procurement, logistics, product development and technology as well as for the company's service offerings, according to the Essingen-based company.
In addition, Mr Oppat is to help roll out the new international structure of the concern to be introduced as part of the strategic re-focussing on core business areas. The new Scholz COO most recently worked at the Roland Berger consultancy in Switzerland, were he was involved in the restructuring of the Scholz Group.
