Finnish recycling group Kuusakoski has acquired the outstanding 39 per cent stake in its British waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) joint venture SWEEEP Kuusakoski, taking full ownership of the Kent-based company. The group had previously held a 61 per cent shareholding. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
SWEEEP Kuusakoski operates a recycling facility in Sittingbourne, around 50 km east of London, that the company says processes around 25 per cent of the UK’s mixed e-waste stream. Kuusakoski said the acquisition strengthens its strategic focus on multimetals recycling and material sourcing. The transaction concludes a partnership dating back to 2010, when the Finnish company first became a co-owner of the business, acquiring a 50 per cent stake....
