Chinese packaging paper group Lee & Man Paper has ordered a new machine for producing recycled corrugated case material for its mill in Jiangxi province. The machine with a production capacity of 300,000 tonnes a year will be supplied by Finnish Valmet group, which reported this week that it is to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“The demand for packaging papers in China should continue to rise in the long run”, commented Raymond Lee, chairman of Lee & Man Paper, at the release of the company’s first-half report in early August. “To address the overcapacity and environmental protection issues associated with the paper industry, China has been promoting the elimination of obsolete production capacity in the past few years, which has improved the supply over demand situation in the industry thereby helping the industry to regain its bargaining power,” Mr Lee added.
