Lyondell-Basell and Lego holding company Kirkbi invest in plastics recycler APK

Dutch chemicals group Lyondell-Basell and Kirkbi, the family-owned holding company and investment firm behind the Lego brand, have taken a stake in German plastics recycler APK. On 8 February, the companies announced the signing of an agreement which will see Lyondell-Basell and Kirkbi become minority shareholders in Merseburg-based APK.

APK specialises in a solvent-based recycling technology for low density polyethylene (LDPE). Founded by the Lindner family in 2008, APK developed the “Newcycling” process to expand the recycling of multi-layer flexible packaging....
