In the first half of 2013, 4.218 million tonnes of steel scrap were exported from Germany. This is a decrease by 930.000 tonnes compared to the first six months of 2012. The scrap exports' value decreased by more than a quarter to €1.76bn, according to data published by the German Federal Statistical Office Destatis.
Exports from Germany in June 2013 totalled 737,000 tonnes and were down 8 per cent compared to June 2012. The bulk of the decline occurred in trade with Italy, while volumes supplied to Luxembourg were also lower. By contrast, exports to the Netherlands, Turkey, France, Spain and Switzerland were higher than one year before.
