Metals recycler Sims breaks even on rising revenues

Ferrous and non-ferrous metals recycling group Sims Limited narrowly remained profitable in its most recent accounting year. The company reported a net profit after tax of AUD2.4m (about €1.3m) for the financial year ended 30 June 2025, compared with AUD 1.8m from continuing operations a year earlier. Sims operates mainly in North America, Australia and New Zealand, while its Sims Lifecycle Services (SLS) division is also active in Europe and Asia.

The previous year’s figures exclude Sims’ UK business, which was sold to recycling company Unimetal Group on 30 September 2024. Including the British operations, Sims posted a loss of AUD58m in the 2024 financial year.

For the current financial year, Sims expects sustained strong demand and robust markets for its non-ferrous metals recycling operations, while its forecasts for ferrous scrap activities diverge due to the effects of trade frictions.
