MOL Group to close Remat plastic recycling plants in Hungary at year-end

Hungary's MOL Group recorded a steep fall in earnings from its Circular Economy Services division, which includes its recycling activities, in the third quarter of this year. According to interim results for the third quarter, which were published earlier in November, these operations posted a loss of US$64m (around €55m) for the period. In light of these losses, MOL is planning to close two mechanical plastic recycling facilities operated by its subsidiary Remat.

Despite significant measures to improve efficiency, Remat had booked losses in recent years, a MOL spokesperson told EUWID, adding that profitable operation was not realistic under current market conditions. Against this backdrop, the group has decided to close both facilities at the end of 2025....
