MOL Group’s Circular Economy Services unit gets new leader, posts Q2 Ebitda loss

Hungary’s oil, gas and petrochemicals group MOL announced a new leader for its Circular Economy Services (CES) division in mid-August. Effective 15 August, József Simola stepped down as group chief financial officer (GCFO) and was appointed executive vice-president of the CES division, succeeding Zsolt Pethő. The business unit includes the municipal waste management company MOHU and the nationwide deposit return scheme (DRS) for single-use beverage packaging Repont, among other activities.

In the second quarter of 2025, the CES division's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) were negative, mainly due to seasonally higher operating costs for collection and treatment on the back of increased waste volumes, according to MOL Group's second-quarter financial report released earlier in August....
