Three companies – Neste, Alterra Energy and Technip Energies – have announced a strategic partnership to speed up the transition to a circular economy for plastics. The alliance aims to provide companies around the world with a standardised and modular solution for the construction of chemical recycling plants for plastic waste.
According to the partners, this solution is based on Alterra’s pyrolysis technology. The company already operates a pyrolysis plant in Akron in the US state of Ohio. Together with Neste and Technip, it is now working on a "copy-and-paste solution" for the rapid scale-up of recycling facilities.
Alterra and Neste have been cooperating on chemical recycling since 2021, with a focus on optimising Alterra’s technology and creating related value chains. Alterra has also been working on chemical recycling with Technip Energies since 2022. Neste holds a stake in Alterra and acquired European rights to Alterra Energy’s liquefication technology in 2022....
