The Danish company NewRetex is offering a scalable solution for producing recycled fibres from post-consumer waste textiles. According to the firm, the fibres are certified in accordance with the Global Recycled Standard and made out of textile waste from Danish households. The fibres are also fully traceable thanks to NewRetex's MES system.
The company has also developed a standardised colour card for recycled fibres and yarns using its automated colour sorting technology. NewRetex said that this colour card allowed manufacturers to choose post-consumer fibres in pre-sorted high-purity colours, which reduced the need for additional dyeing and created a unique pallet for new textile products.
The post-consumer fibres are fully traceable, NewRetex reported, which enables manufacturers to meet future requirements related to circularity and sustainability. With demand for recycled materials growing, NewRetex’s GRS certification guaranteed compliance with environmental and social standards and ensured that these fibres were made in a responsible and sustainable manner, the company said.
NewRetex aims to address a pressing challenge, the low percentage of textiles currently recycled into new garments, by scaling up production and continuously improving fibre quality. The Danish firm said that it specialised in AI-based and automated sorting of textile waste using advanced sensor, robot and automation technologies.
