Nexus plans two pyrolysis plants for plastic waste in the United States

The Brazilian plastics group Braskem is planning to build a pyrolysis plant for plastic waste near Chicago in partnership with the US firm Nexus Circular. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in mid-July to secure the production output from the new "advanced recycling facility". Later in the same month, Nexus signed a letter of intent with the plastic group Dow to build a new pyrolysis plant in Dallas, Texas.

Initially, the facility in Chicago is to have the capacity to recycle some 30,000 tonnes of polypropylene waste. In the longer term, though, its recycling capacity might be raised to more than 120,000 tonnes a year. Braskem did not provide details about the project’s timetable or the investment involved....
