Even amid the current market challenges, production capacity for "advanced recycling" of plastics in Europe is expected to quadruple by 2031, according to German think-tank Nova Institute in its new report "Mapping of Global Advanced Plastic Recycling Capacities".
Despite the economic uncertainties, project cancellations and delays in establishing policy frameworks, the authors express optimism about the future capacity trends: European production capacity for monomers, polymers, naphtha from chemical and physical recycling is expected to rise four-fold by 2031 compared with the current levels.
