Petronas to build chemical recycling plant using technology from Plastic Energy

Malaysia's state-owned energy and chemicals group Petronas has announced plans to build "Asia's largest advanced chemical recycling plant." The technology for plant, which will have a capacity of 33,000 tpa, will be supplied by the UK firm Plastic Energy Limited.

The facility being built in Pengerang in the southern state of Johor in Malaysia is scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2026. It will transform waste plastics into pyrolysis oil, which can then be used as a chemical feedstock to produce sustainable plastics, Petronas Chemicals Group (PCG) said in a press release.
