The Italian textiles sorting company Fratelli Esposito srl is planning to add an automatic sorting line for used clothing to its operations in Marcianise, north of Naples. According to Esposito's technology supplier, the Spanish company Picvisa, an agreement has been signed and the new line is to be installed within the next few months.

The new sorting line will be designed to grade garments into 24 different categories using a dual conveyor system with the capacity to process up to two tonnes per hour. "This advancement will significantly improve efficiency and accuracy in sorting clothes by composition and colour and will include an advanced product traceability system, allowing detailed control at every stage of the process", Picvisa said.

The company describes the project as a significant step in its expansion within the textile sector, consolidating its presence in Italy, a market which Picvisa considers crucial.

According to Fratelli Esposito, about 100 tonnes of used clothes and shoes are sorted daily at their Marcianise plant, or about 25,000 tonnes a year. The new line "is part of Esposito's ambitious strategic plan to continue optimising the management of clothing destined for both the second-hand market and textile recycling", Picvisa reported.

The Spanish company describes itself as a pioneer in optical sorting technology solutions with experience in various industrial sectors. The project in Marcianise marks another step for the company "towards its establishment as a key reference in the textile sector, especially in a strategic market like Italy".
