In a joint statement with the European Electronics Recyclers Association (EERA) and Plastics Recyclers Europe, the European umbrella organisations for the recycling and private-sector waste management industries (EuRIC and FEAD) call for the development of harmonised end-of-waste (EoW) criteria for waste plastics. These criteria, which specify when a material ceases to be waste and becomes a product or secondary raw material, are "imperative and essential to achieve a level playing field, eliminate market barriers, and foster trust in recycled materials".
The joint statement was issued earlier in February in connection with the European Commission's plans to propose a Circular Economy Act.
