White-lined chipboard and solidboard manufacturer Reno de Medici (RDM) group officially shut down the idle R.D.M Blendecques board mill on 31 August. The mill was an important recovered paper consumer in Northern France, housing one board machine with an installed capacity of up to 140,000 tpy of uncoated and coated board made using recycled fibres.
Reno de Medici announced its plans for the closure of the Blendecques site in March. The mill had been facing substantial difficulties over the last two years after a series of adverse events. In March 2022, a major fire occurred at the mill which neccessitated a ten-month production stoppage. Between November 2023 and January 2024 severe floods hit the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France, resulting in more downtime at the Blendecques mill.
