The Spanish petrochemical group Repsol has greenlighted a large-scale waste-to-methanol plant in Catalonia, committing to an investment of €800m in the project. The "Ecoplanta" facility is to convert municipal solid waste into renewable methanol and circular products using gasification technology developed by Repsol's partner, the Canadian company Enerkem. The project partners expect the "molecular recycling facility" to be operational in 2029. The facility is to be built at Repsol's existing industrial complex in El Morell, near Tarragona. ...
